ALABAMA based PHOTOGRAPHER
Tess Blackmon is an Alabama-based travel photographer with over 15 years of experience. Drawn to people and places, she approaches photography as an observer and storyteller, studying the atmosphere of a place, the character of a person, and the moments that unfold naturally. Her work explores fashion, lifestyle, hospitality, brands, and everyday stories through an editorial, and documentary approach.
Hi there, I’m Tess
I’m curious about people, places, and the stories that exist within them. Photography gives me a way to explore that curiosity to document what I encounter, create with intention, and make images that feel true to the moment.
I’ve always been drawn to visual details the way a space is designed, the character of an interior, the atmosphere of a room, or a person whose presence and sense of style feel distinctly their own. I’m interested in the relationship between a subject and its surroundings, and how those elements can come together to create an image with its own sense of character.
My professional work allows me to collaborate with people, brands, and businesses to create imagery with purpose, while my creative work gives me the freedom to explore visual ideas that make me pause and consider why something feels worth looking at.
”I’m always looking for what makes a photograph feel like more than an image.”
Over the years, my work has taken me across different settings, subjects, and creative spaces. I’ve photographed fashion, hospitality, events, brands, interiors, and the people who bring those spaces to life. Each assignment is different, and that variety is one of the things I value most about photography.
I enjoy the process of stepping into someone else’s world learning what matters to them, understanding the atmosphere they want to create, and translating that into photographs that feel natural to the experience itself.
Together, these bodies of work represent the different ways I engage with photography through collaboration, observation, travel, and creative exploration.
